Good Practice in Workplace Diversity
Introduction
The European Commission has launched a project to promote the Business Case for Diversity, funded through the Community Action Programme to combat discrimination. The project aims to support businesses and employers in their development of effective diversity programmes and encourage the exchange of experience and good practice between companies across the European Union. A compendium of good practices that illustrate the business case for diversity has been published and is now publicly available, further to its launch at a major European Conference on Workplace Diversity held on 28 and 29 November 2005 in Brussels.
Compendium and Conference
The objective of the conference, organised in collaboration with the UK Presidency, is to stimulate debate on the business case for diversity amongst companies and employers, social partners, European and governmental representatives, and other stakeholders across the European Union. The conference attracted 130 participants and provided an opportunity to share experience and examples of good practice in successfully promoting and implementing workplace diversity and non-discrimination. The results of the European Compendium on Good Practice in Workplace Diversity have also been disseminated and launched by the European Commission at this occasion.
