
While I understand that sport clubs would like to have wage caps so that their owners can do better, this is an uncompetitive restraint on the potential wages of the players.
Why shouldn´t the players be paid what the market will bear, particularly as they have such a limited shelf life.
There is no reason to assist club owners to have cheaper players who would be paid more in a free market.
If owners can´t play they should stay out of the game, not go for artificial restraints on others to benefit themselves.
