Corporate governance shaken up at Severstal
Severstal made its debut on the London Stock Exchange last year amid concerns over weak corporate governance standards in the emerging market companies flooding into the City from countries with scant respect for shareholders’ rights.
To meet Britain’s demanding corporate governance requirements, the Russian steelmaker appointed an independent chairman and four independent non-executive directors for the 10-strong board.
