Target Group:
This seminar is designed for public officials, staff of international organizations and NGOs, and interested parties from the private sector, who are involved in the implementation and transposition of EC strategy on combating discrimination, and interested in prohibiting any direct or indirect discrimination on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, or religion.
Description:
Following on from the Green Paper on equality and non-discrimination in an enlarged Europe, the Commission has set out a strategy for the positive and active promotion of non-discrimination and equal opportunities for all. One of the main objectives of this strategy is to ensure effective legal protection against discrimination across the EU through the full transposition by all Member States of the Community legislation in this field.
Member States are encouraged to develop measures to facilitate the labour market integration of minorities under their National Action Plans. The seminar will look in some detail at the various procedures and the functioning to support strategy development in this area.
Objective:
The seminar aims to present the European Commission strategy on no- discrimination and to compare some of the Member states national strategy. At the end of the seminar the participants should have a clear view of new tools, new approaches, new input to promote equal opportunities, to celebrate diversity to ensure the effective results against discrimination.
