The ED/Board relationship is critical to the success of nonprofit organizations. This session will provide an overview of the components of a highly effective partnership as well as multiple examples of practices designed to identify the leadership styles and assets that will best serve the needs of the organization, create a strong partnership from the beginning, develop realistic expectations that are mutually understood, ensure that the efforts of the chief executive and board are not only aligned but highly synergistic, foster a healthy and continuous dialogue on issues that matter most to the organization, and optimally engage individual board members in adding value and furthering the mission of the organization.
