“Foresight 2020”, a study conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and sponsored by Nasdaq-listed Cisco Systems considers likely changes to the global economy out to 2020, assessing, among other things, the dynamics of eight major industries and the evolution of corporate structures. In addition to continued rapid globalization and the fragmenting of business processes and supply chains, the report emphasizes Asia’s growing role in the world economy. In particular, India and China are seen to take an increasingly larger part in driving growth, while Asia’s share of the world economy is projected to rise from 35% today to 43%.
