Responsibility initiatives – Indonesia and Malaysia are open for business ethics


Malaysia and Indonesia are spearheading attempts in south-east Asia to legislate for good corporate behaviour
Boasting international trade of $1.4 trillion a year, south-east Asia is one of the world’s fastest growing markets.

And the region’s 11 nations, with a combined population of almost 600 million, have developed into an important manufacturing base for almost every multinational company.

Now Malaysia and Indonesia, the region’s second and fourth largest economies respectively, and both countries with Islamic traditions, are introducing new rules to make both domestic and international firms behave more responsibly.
