Iberdrola extends wave energy

Iberdrola, the Spanish energy company has just announced its receipt of approval from the Scottish government, for their wave energy project.

This project is projected to produce 3 magawatts (MW) for an investment of €14 million, providing energy to cover the needs of 2,000 households.

While the technology shown in the brief video appears simple, there must be significant underlying complication, as wave energy has been talked about for years as the solution to the world´s energy needs in the future and yet very little has been seen to date.

Spanish companies have made much noise over the last few years in alternative energy, confirming the leading position of Spain as amongst the leaders in alternative energy supply and consumption, very much unlike other leading countries.

This project would appear to be an additional benefit of Iberdrola´s recent acquisition of Scottish Power.

The alternative energy division of Iberdrola is to be congratulated!
