Generali ‘vindicated by results’


This is a big mistake......allowing financial results at any one time to blur the real needs.

If Generali needs governance changes, announcing good results does not make this need any less strong and we should not fall into the usual mistake of ignoring problems while results are coming in.

Waiting for the bad times will be too late.

Generali hit back at the activist investors on Wednesday, calling for sweeping governance changes at the insurer, saying its quarterly results demonstrated there were no serious problems.

Giovanni Perissinotto, one of Generali’s chief executives, told the Financial Times Wednesday’s third-quarter numbers showed the management of Europe’s third-largest insurer was achieving “remarkable things”.
