
What is thought leadership? There are many theories and plenty of gurus who have written on the subject. The Ledbury Thought Leadership Index (see the 2007 results here) marks the beginning of a project to try to determine an authentic and authoritative definition. The focus of this exercise is to illustrate what is and what is not thought leadership, and how by practising genuine thought leadership, organisations and individuals can transform their reputations.
Whilst cynics might dismiss the term as meaningless management speak, there is no doubt that the term thought leadership has become a buzzword in business strategy. With intellectual capital at a premium, being recognised for the highest levels of knowledge and expertise is the holy grail of many professions.
