What Green Power Wants From Obama


The new president pledges to increase renewable energy. Here's what the industry wants to see.

Wind and solar developers are counting on President-elect Barack Obama to make good on his promise to put renewable energy at the top of the agenda when he enters the White House Tuesday.

They need the help. Following their best year ever, with wind and solar electricity-generating capacity nearly doubling, they're now reeling from recession.

Obama's goals seem straightforward: Double the total amount of green generation capacity to 48 gigawatts within three years, create millions of green-collar jobs and put the down payment on an eventual $150 billion renewables package to get it done.
