
Climate change protesters have pledged to continue to hound BP after the oil company postponed plans for a dinner at the British Museum to celebrate its centenary. The dinner, on April 1, was to have been the scene of one of a number of protests, most coinciding with the G20 meeting in London.
BP insists that the event, for 400 guests and including the screening of a 45-minute film, was not postponed because of the threatened protest. “With everything going on in London because of the G20, we thought it would be extremely difficult for our guests to get in and out of the venue and around London,” a spokeswoman said. “Police resources are stretched.”
