The scale of the global financial crisis has taken most economists and policy-makers by surprise. Historian Niall Ferguson foresaw it, warning throughout 2006 of the dangers of a liquidity crisis for highly leveraged institutions and households. He will discuss the geopolitical consequences that are likely to result from the descent of western finance.

This meeting will be followed by an open reception.
