Big pay push for women


TENS of thousands of Victorian community sector workers are to push for an average 30 per cent pay rise as part of the most significant test case for women's pay in decades.

The large Australian Services Union claim, which is to be launched today, will ask for a variety of wage rises across Australia, but ASU assistant national secretary Linda White said the claims would not exceed 37 per cent.

In Victoria, the claim would average about 30 per cent, Ms White said.
