More Aussies switching to solar power


INCREASINGLY large numbers of Australians are switching to sustainable energy sources in a bid to reduce energy bills and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

A Newspoll survey found that while electricity and gas prices have gone up by an estimated average of 35 per cent across the country in the past three years, Australians have responded by becoming increasingly more "carbon-efficient".

The poll, commissioned by solar water heater manufacturer Solahart, petitioned 676 home-owners on the energy issue.
