Socially Responsible Leaders – the Deans’ View


VIEWPOINT: From Enron to the Libor rate-fixing scandal corporate leadership failures can be traced to a lack of ethical behaviour and a disregard for social consequences. Companies, business schools and regulators are now united in trying to put this right for the future.

As part of this drive Deans from five international business schools met in Paris to debate how the current state of corporate social responsibility and government regulation is affecting business education. Dean Paul Danos of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth organized the roundtable discussion which provided a valuable global perspective on the impact of CSR on leadership development. Three main themes were discussed, each from a regional perspective. These are some key takeaways:
