Lex - Hutchison/Sawiris

The big winners, shown to have the more intelligent strategy are the Sawiris, owners of the mobile phone group, Orascom.

They purchased a 19% minority stake in HTIL, with the intention of having an inside run at an acquisition of its Indian business.

Failing this, they made a 52% return on their investment. Not a bad failing strategy.

Now HTIL has to decide what to do with the funds received from the sale and how to handle their minority partner, the Sawiris.

Given that the Hutchison group invariably operates with minority partners, they are advised to be seen to be fair.

The winners here are the Sawiris!
