CSR Starts with Conviction at the Top
Corporate social responsibility initiatives can become mere public relations exercises, unless they stem from the management team's personal convictions and dovetail with the company's strategy, says Prof. Antonio Argandoña, holder "la Caixa" Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance. Companies should therefore devise strategies with an industry focus.
This was one of the conclusions put forward by Prof. Argandoña, during the presentation of the study, "The Business Challenge of Corporate Social Responsibility," held during the 1st Socially Responsible Business Forum.
Over 100 companies took part in the forum, which focused on the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the main challenges it poses for business management.
