Sir,
Siemens senior management have been trying to copy the GE strategy for years so, now that they are looking for a new CEO ("Kleinfeld puts pressure on successor" Financial Times, April 26, 2007), they may as well just hire a senior GE executive and be done with it.

Klaus Kleinfeld on Thursday raised the bar for his successor as chief executive at Siemens as he unveiled new profitability targets for the German engineering group.
Mr Kleinfeld announced the new goals a day after he said he would step down when his contract expires in September after failing to get the backing of his supervisory board. His departure threatens to leave Siemens in a leadership vacuum, following last week’s resignation of the chairman, Heinrich von Pierer.
