Olympic firms 'abusing workers'


China has had exploitation of its citizens since the beginning of this regime, that is, since the revolution, so it should not surprise us that workers´ rights continue being abused.

The Olympic authorities demonstrated their lack of interest in this issue when they awarded the Games. I am sure that they would prefer that China keep things quiet, so as to award these the greatest games in history.

Look out for a North Korea-style inauguration ceremony.

Some official merchandise for the 2008 Olympics in China has been made using child labour, forced overtime and low wages to boost profits, a report says.

Playfair - an alliance of world trade unions - has condemned "severe workers' rights violations" in four Chinese factories ahead of the Beijing games.

The group said it found abuses at the factories - licensed to make official Olympic caps, bags and stationery.

Companies cited in the report have denied the allegations.
