For One Gender, It’s Even Lonelier at the Top
If you’re a woman and you aspire to be a C.E.O., you’re better off working in nonprofits or health care. And you may want to avoid the semiconductor and the aerospace industries.
You might come to that conclusion after reading a new report from ZoomInfo, a business data search engine. After crawling across the Web with its information feelers, ZoomInfo plucked out data on the gender composition of executives across 13 industries.
The results are hardly surprising: at the top of corporate America, men predominate. Even in the nonprofit sector, women make up just 29.6 percent of chiefs. But that looks like progress when set against semiconductor companies (3.1 percent) and aerospace (4.5 percent).
