The gap between the buying power of senior managers and that of junior staff is widest in Latin American countries and most narrow in Western Europe.
According to Watson Wyatt’s Global 50 Remuneration Planning Report, the gap is greatest in Mexico where the relative buying power of senior managers is more than 21 times that of administrators. Adjusted for cost of living differences, on average Mexican senior managers have USD 348,218 of buying power compared with USD 16,372 for Mexican administrators.
The difference in buying power in the Nordic countries tends to be lowest, with Norway (2.6 times) and Denmark (2.7 times) at the bottom of the 50-country buying power gap list. Germany is 39th (3.8 times), the United States is 36th (4.4 times), France is 34th (4.5 times) and the United Kingdom is 28th (5.4 times).
