Global migrant workers require "fair deal"


The best way of providing the 105 million migrant workers globally with a "fair deal" is to adopt a "rights-based approach" to employment, a new study claims.

According to the report by the International Labor Organization (ILO), challenges remain from the economic downturn but this should not affect standards in relation to legislation and the provision of legal opportunities for jobseekers.

Examining the conditions of work migrant employees experience around the world, the researchers conclude they offer positive contributions to "both their countries of employment and origin", but many experience protection deficits that should be addressed.
